Adult Christian Education

Christian education and formation is the lifelong process of growing in our relationship with God, self, others, and all creation. Along with worship, fellowship and prayer, part of the active Christian life includes the regular and thorough study of scripture or other books on faith. Every experience in our lives can provide us with the opportunity to express our faith; the challenge we face is recognizing these opportunities and learning ways to live a sometimes counter-cultural life in a secular world.

Here at St. Francis, we recognize the importance of cultivating our personal relationships with God and each other and nurturing our spiritual growth. To help meet these needs, St. Francis offers a Sunday morning class, Men's Bible Studies, Women's Bible Studies, and groups that meet for mid-week worship and fellowship, and fun.

Sunday Morning Class

Sundays, 10:10 am; year-round
People Place (near the St. Francis School office)
Leader: George Hippard

The Adult Christian Education Class where people come and learn about God as revealed in his Word: the Holy Bible. All are welcome to attend this informal group where there is no homework. Each class is stand-alone as we study the Bible or books about biblical concepts. Lively and enlightening discussions are part of our interaction with the text.

Adult Education Series: Faith & Work
September 15 - October 6
10 am in the Hogan Board Room

The series, Faith & Work, will track through the book Every Good Endeavor by Timothy Keller. Take a deep dive into questions regarding Christian views of our work-lives today and how it can provide the foundation of a thriving professional and balanced personal life. Keller shows how excellence, integrity, creativity, passion and discipline in the workplace can help others and even be considered acts of worship - not just self-interest.

Men’s Bible Studies

Tuesdays, 7 am (year-round)
Meets at La Madeleine-Tanglewood

Contact: Lew Arend

This group studies a variety of books, including the Bible, with the focus of trying to understand how God works in our lives. Our discussions come from a “guy’s” point of view: how faith informs how you act as a man, husband, father, employee, employer, etc.

We are discussing the Gospel of Luke and Ronald Rolheiser's, The Holy Longing. Please join us as we pray and learn together while sharing a man’s perspective on faith and life.

Women’s Bible Studies

This year, the Women’s Walking with Jesus Bible Study will dive into the book of Judges. God will show us as we read through Judges that the cycle of sin and the bondage to enemies the Israelites experienced is no different to our own cycle of sin and being in bondage to ‘worldly’ things today! You are invited to participate in this study where we will be transformed by the power of God’s Word, encouraged to put Jesus first in our daily lives and support each other in the power of prayer.

There are two opportunities to attend the Women’s Bible Study during the week:

Monday at 11 am
Guild Room in Wheatcroft Parish Hall
Contact: Nichole Hilgert, 713-419-0517

Wednesday at 9 am

Mom’s Bible Studies

This is a place for moms to come together with other women who walk the same stage of life as they study, pray and share experiences with each other. Join us whenever you can, work out or work wear! This year, we will study the Book of Ephesians.
