Volunteer Opportunities
Serve with St. Francis
We believe God calls us to love our neighbors in practical ways, whether that's welcoming people into worship or showing up for our neighbors across Houston.
The Gathering
Meets: First Friday of the month, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Sept - May, Parish Hall
The Gathering is a day program for adults living with Alzheimer's or dementia. Volunteers help with meals, entertainment, crafts, and one-on-one time.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Meets: Every other Saturday, 2 p.m.
This friendly group knits and crochets shawls for the sick and recovering. No experience is required.
Looking to receive a shawl instead? Visit Pastoral Care to request one.
Woodview Elementary Reading Buddies
Meets: Weekly, starting each October; morning and afternoon slots available
Volunteers are paired with a 2nd-grade student at Woodview Elementary for weekly 30-minute reading sessions, supporting early reading intervention at a critical age. A brief training session is held each September for new volunteers before the program kicks off.
Fair Haven Food Pantry
St. Francis supports the Fair Haven Food Pantry, which distributes groceries to food-insecure families in the Spring Branch and Memorial area every week. Drop off food donations on Sundays.
Volunteer directly with Fair Haven to interview clients, sack groceries, and coordinate food drives. Volunteer with Fair Haven
