Blessing of the Animals

Bring your dogs, cats, birds and reptiles as we give thanks to God for his spectacular creation. We will have a short liturgy in the church, and then have individual blessings in the courtyard. We will also have a police horse, pictures, the Houston Humane Society, Texas Wildlife Rehab Coalition and a vet on hand.  Please bring your donations of:

  • paper towels

  • newspapers

  • Dawn deterrent

  • Dog Food

  • Cat Food:  TWRC only wants the two following brands (there is some ingredient in them that the orphaned raccoons & squirrels need):

    • HEB Texas Pets for Flavor Morsels Dry Cat Food

    • IAMS Adult Cat Food

    • Any kind for the Houston Humane Society

which will be given to TWRC and the Houston Humane Society.

St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and the natural environment. In his honor, near his feast day in early October, our parish holds a very special Blessing of the Animals service. For this wonderful event, you and your children are invited to bring your pets – whether large or small – to the church for a blessing.
